Amber Heard’s team is now arguing for the case to be dismissed.

Johnny Depp’s $50 million defamation case against ex-wife Heard continued this week in a Virginia courtroom, marking the 12th day of testimony which has come hot on the heels of reports that Heard had fired her PR team over the weekend.

And now, Heard is trying to have the entire case dismissed.

Caroline Patrickis tweeted today (3 May): “BREAKING: Amber Heard is trying to have the case dismissed right now.”

Depp’s lawyer, Benjamin Chew, contended that the Huffington Post article wrote by Heard back in 2018, which is at the focal point of the claim, is sufficient proof in itself to make a big difference for the case.

He additionally highlighted last week’s observing that the ACLU helped Heard draft the article in which she blamed Depp for maltreatment in the wake of being guaranteed a $3.5m gift from her separation.

Bite said: “This was only a trick for her to get the $7 million in the separation settlement that she swore she provided for the ACLU and the Children’s Hospital and she stashed it.”

Terence Dougherty, ACLU’s general advice, affirmed last week that Heard’s guaranteed gift was one reason why the association recommended she become an ACLU envoy.

Dougherty said: “Ms Heard talked with such lucidity and ability on issues of orientation based brutality that [ACLU representatives] concluded she would be a fitting individual to request to turn into an ACLU envoy.”

Amber Heard Fires PR Team After Negative Headlines Around Court Case

Following this, however, it was announced by Judge Azcarate that the motion to strike was denied, and Heard will be taking the stand as planned.

The court heard last week that at least $500,000 of the donation actually came from an Elon Musk-connected fund.

Elsewhere, it was reported that Heard had fired her PR team due to the ‘onslaught’ of negative publicity brought on by the trial.

The Independent reported over the weekend that Heard had terminated crisis PR firm Precision Strategies’ service and hired Shane Communications.

Earlier this week, Depp’s said the publication of Heard’s op-ed was ‘catastrophic’, telling the court that not only was Depp dropped from the sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie, but he was also prevented from signing onto further productions in the aftermath.

A forensic accountant predicted that Depp lost a total of $40 million in earnings.

The actor’s agent, Jack Whigham, said: “With respect to Johnny, it was catastrophic because it was coming from a first-person account, it was not from a journalist, not someone observing, it was from someone saying this happened to me.”

Amber Heard has reportedly dropped her PR team, Precision Strategies, as a spate of negative headlines emerge during her trial.

Heard’s ongoing legal battle with Johnny Depp has given rise to several unflattering headlines about her, as favour for Depp emerges on social media with the trending #justiceforjohnny.

Depp filed a $50 million lawsuit against Heard after an op-ed piece she wrote for The Washington Post in 2018 insinuated she was a victim of domestic abuse during their marriage.

While both Depp and Heard have faced scrutiny from marriage counsellors, friends, and psychologists throughout the trial, in the court of public opinion people seem to be favouring Depp.

Not only are people ridiculing Heard on Twitter, but recently released footage shows people booing the actor as she left court.

In the video, posted to YouTube, people can be heard booing, blowing whistles, and insulting Heard.

One person even asks: “Where’s the money for the charity?” The comment was a reference to Heard’s earlier pledge to donate the money from her divorce settlement with Depp to charity.

Recently, it was revealed that Heard only donated half of the $7 million she had pledged, Vanity Fair reports.

One of her nominated charities (ACLU) said they learned that the star was ‘having financial difficulties’ and is yet to pay the rest of the money.

Now, it seems, that the actor has decided to drop her PR team Precision Strategies, according to the New York Post. “She doesn’t like bad headlines,” one source told the outlet, while another said the Heard is ‘frustrated with her story not being told effectively’.

Lis Smith, who was the senior communications director for Pete Buttigieg’s 2020 presidential campaign, said: “It’s crazy to change teams in the middle of a trial like this because you don’t like the headlines.”

Heard’s now ex-firm was co-founded by Stephanie Cutter, who acted as deputy campaign manager for Barack Obama’s re-election campaign. Heard has instead retained The Management Group for her PR moving forward.
